ABOUT ME
Expressions of my love for life and beauty are evident in my work and teachings. Claying to me is a wonderful way to hit the zone…an alert state of awareness…where nothing is going on but the feel of the clay, the stroke of the brush, the blend of colour, the adding of texture, the play of design…
Initially interested in ceramics, I studied three-dimensional studies and wheelwork at TAFE, exhibiting work in 1995 and 1996 in the Moores Building, Fremantle. I then expanded into polymer clay and precious metal clay (PMC) and jewellery making became my main focus. I exhibited in the Great Southern Art Trail, WA in 2005 and 2006. For the last two years I've been managing Aussiepolyclayers, a very active online polymer clay forum found at http://aussiepolyclay.21.forumer.com/ . I currently exhibit my work at The Bead Shop, Byron Bay and Hammer and Hand, a metal and jewellery collective in A & I Park, Ti-Tree Lane, Byron Bay, where I also man the jewellers bench every Tuesday. I write clay tutorials for various magazines including Creative Beading and Australian Beading. A senior instructor for the Contemporary Clay Instructors Program, offering certificated courses, I have taught at TAFE colleges and at the Fremantle Arts Center in WA and Grafton Artfest NSW and travel extensively throughout Australia holding workshops as well as running retreats/workshops in my studio at home in Mullumbimby, NSW.
